Dewa Athena

Dewa Athena

Dewa Athena is a school event with sports theme. All classes are expected to join every kind of sport. This event is held by OSIS every year so that students from the same school year have the opportunity to know each other and to strengthen their bond of union. In addition, this school event is aimed to promote students' physical health because like I said before, the theme of this school event is sport. This year Dewa Athena was held on Saturday, 25th March, 1st April 2017, and 8th April in Lapangan Bali from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. Although Dewa Athena is organized by OSIS, all students of SMAN 3 Bandung have to attend and participate with no exception.

There were a lot of sports games such as men's and women's basketball, men's and women's futsal, men's and women's double badminton, gobak sodor (Indonesian traditional sport), relay race, and tug of war. Not surprisingly it took three days to hold Dewa Athena event. Besides, due to a big number of sports events contested, there were also participants from Xth and XIth grades. Every level has about ten classes. So the total participants in this event were about 20 classes.

The first day of this event, on 25th March 2017, my class joined gobak sodor match at 7 a.m., following relay race against X MIPA 2, and men's double badminton in the afternoon. Actually, after OSIS handed the competition form, I wrote my name in the contestant column for gobak sodor. Unfortunately, since my mother had to take my sister to bimbel (extra lesson after school) before she took me to lapangan Bali, I arrived late and missed the game, so another student had to take my position.

I arrived in lapangan Bali at 8.30 a.m., when my relay race class competition was about to start. I did not know what to do there because all of my class competitions had finished except men's double badminton. Of course I could not participate. It was for boys. In my bad mood, suddenly my mother called me and asked me if I wanted to visit our sick relative in Tasikmalaya with her. Without thinking, I immediately said yes because I heard that his condition was getting worse and I thought there were no more competitions. But I was wrong, there was still tug of war. I did not want to waste my time, so while waiting for my mom to pick me up, I joined the tug of war.

There were two rounds in tug of war. In the first round, my class lost. When I wanted to participate in the next round, my mom came to pick me up. Sadly, I asked for permission to leave.

8th April 2017 was the third day of Dewa Athena event. My class had only one game left-the final men's double badminton against X MIPA 2. Actually, there were two other important events besides Dewa Athena on that day. They were Paman Gober event and invitation for my homeroom teacher's daughter's wedding. The three events were overlapping, so I had to manage the time wisely. I finally decided to join Paman Gober  from 7 to 10 in the morning, followed by watching my final men's double badminton and then attended the wedding reception.

That day was really tiring for me because I determined to attend the three events in one day. Thank God, I could attend all of them. The last event finished at 3 in the afternoon. At the end of the day, I came back home feeling tired but satisfied. All I wanted to do was to sleep and dream about today.
